About Lola Prentice Park
More than a park — it’s our community
Lola Prentice Park brings people together — dog owners, basketball players, exercisers, and neighbors stopping by to chat. It’s located on a Revolutionary War historical site at 185 Windmill Lane, right across from Stop & Shop and just south of Tate’s.
“Everyone supports clean water, but not at the expense of this 3.5-acre historic park.”
Village Trustees have approved a plan to install a sewage plant and leaching fields at this location. The proposal would relocate the dog park to a smaller site and move the basketball courts elsewhere.
There are better, less disruptive alternatives that don’t require sacrificing this site.

The issue
A sewage plant in a community park
The approved plan calls for a sewage treatment facility and leaching fields to be built within Lola Prentice Park — permanently altering this 3.5-acre green space on a Revolutionary-era historic site.
The dog park would be moved to a smaller location. The basketball courts relocated. The park as the community knows it would be gone.
Our position
There are better alternatives
We support clean water for Southampton Village. But this historic, well-loved park should not bear the cost. There are alternative solutions that can address wastewater needs without destroying this community space. We are calling on Village officials to explore every option before moving forward.
